\
CHIKUZEN SA
Blades markedly differ from predecessors'.
The grace of SAIREN's CHOEN combine with the teaching of MASAMUNE.
SA was of his time, and his school, a river to the Southern NAMBOKUCHO.

      HIRA-TSUKURI, MITSU-MUNE TANTO. Slight SORI.
KO-ITAME with a masterful and fine KO JI-NIE.
The HAMON has slight NOTARE to a "Crowded-hills"
GUNOME-MIDARE with jutting rises and TOGARI peaks.
KO-ASHI creates a louder definition on the O-MOTE,
where the GUNOME has great vitality. HOTSURE and
complex NIOI fog and shroud the URA. ARA-NIE HOTSURE
and KINSUJI embellish like flung lacquer screen.
MUNE-YAKI clings to the back. The MONOUCHI of the
URA shows his famous YAKI-KUZURE, where a burst of
ARA-NIE and NIOI decays frozen above a HAKO-shaped
trough. YAKIDASHI is FUKASHI and crowds (typical
and a mark). The drama is refined.       Gently curved, two ANA UBU NAKAGO                          - URA: CHIKUSHU JU                          OMOTE: SA

At 8.5 Sun, the Hira-tsukuri, Mitsu-mune is wide and has a very thick Kasane.
Tightly knit Itame-Hada has Moku coming out. There is Ji-Nie dappled.
Generally wide Hamon deepens as it fills the upper. Ko-Nie Asaki Ko-Notare Togari Ba is mixed with Gunome. There is Kinsuji and Sunagashi runs in the mid.
Midare Tsuki-age Kaen-style Boshi.

CHIKUZEN SA
"The Ten Students"
O-SA GEN-O (f: JITSUA): SAEMON SABURO. Called SA. "The Great SA."
            He was born KEN-JI 3, 1277 and died in EN-BUN 1356.
There is much conjecture that the name SA could be a
nick name of YASUYOSHI that was taken as a school
title for both smith and school. Certainly both SA
and YASUYOSHI were actively promoting the school and
its style throughout the southern provinces.
TANTO: Narrow with little curve. 7 to 8 SUN. His HAMON is
stronger than his student's refinements. A varied
NOTARE line contains GUNOME of different height. The
GUNOME will tend to TOGARI on the tops.  There will
be HOTSURE from the HABUCHI. SUNAGASHI may run. "SA"
on the OMOTE and fine-lined "CHIKUSHU JU" on the URA.
TACHI: Made large. Wide blade, thick MUNE - possibly MARU,
deep SORI, and "extended" KISSAKI. NOTARE O-MIDARE.

Some UCHIZORI and KANMURI-OTOSHI found. TSUYO-GANE
(strong) blue steel in KO-MOKUME with UZU and YUBASHIRI-
HADA.  Steel is clear. YUAI UTSURI (temper-blued HADA)
having JI-NIE and CHIKEI. SA, and his school following,
fashioned a NOTARE-shaped line holding GUNOME or CHOJI
within. GUNOME rises poke up, of which, some are TOGARI
        - this is CHIKUZEN. The HAMON of his students are more
refined. SA's art was crafted at the furnace of
        MASAMUNEs' SOSHU-DEN. YAKI-KUZURE is a result and a
trait. A third definer is KOSHIBA where figures tend to
crowd or become FUKASHI in the lower. NIE and NIOI is
FUKASHI and bright. SUNAGASHI may run. INAZUMA and
        KINSUJI.
SA YAKIBA recap: - CHIKUZEN HAMON
                                        - YAKI-KUZURE
                                        - KOSHIBA

BOSHI: TSUKI-AGE "thrust-up" TOGARI - can be "Swept." Falls
directly. Or SUGU with KO-MARU. (SAKI-ZORI? Think later-SA)

Itame, Ko-Mokume mix has JiNie and Chikei.
Asaki-Notare, gently undulating, Ko-Notare mixes with a complex Ko-Gunome Ba where Kinsuji and Sunagashi cut Niju into the mid. Strong Nie walks the widening line into the Kuzure Ba Kaen Boshi.

Named for it's Snow on the Bay Saya - a prize of Iyeyasu's.
SHINOGI-TSUKURI MARU-MUNE. Deeply curved with FUNBARI and
     elongated CHU-KISSAKI. BO-HI resolve in MARU-DOME. A sword
of strength.
Masterful ITAME HADA with JI-NIE and CHIKEI.
YAKIBA: OMOTE falls smoothly from a slightly KUZURE widening
of the MONOUCHI, to be overtaken by an insistent NOTARE from
the complex mid. HOTSURE chases SUNAGASHI through broken
GUNOME NOTARE-MIDARE while ASHI quarrels for the inside.
Bright NIE rides NIOI-FUKASHI.
TOGARI with slight KAERI comes of a wide MIDARE-BOSHI on
the OMOTE. YAKI-KUZURE pries a gaping bay on
TACHI-URA.
KUZURE seems to exhaust the MONOUCHI where ropes of
SUNAGASHI lay slack.
TACHI-MEI SURIAGE NAKAGO has the fine-lined "CHIKUSHU JU"
followed by his characteristically stronger "SA." This
sword has the distinction of being his only signed DAI-TO.
