The leading expert outside Japan, Robert Haynes, has seen this Koshirae and stated the pieces are genuine. Both Koshirae and sword blade were  submitted to Shinsa and each received the large NTHK Kantei-Sho Appraisal Origami. 

The Fuchi / Gashira, signed "Mitsuaki" is either H 05132.0 Goto Mitsuaki (D. ca 1850) or more probably H 05133.0 Mitsuaki student of Goto Seijo (D. ca. 1700). The premier fittings expert in the U.S.A. has seen these fittings and has said the Fuchi-Gashira are genuine and Juyo quality. 

Juyo quality, the Fuchi/Gashira may be submitted for the NBTHK's Juyo Shinsa.
